During the third forum “The victims speak to the ICC prosecutor Karim Khan”, organized by the Presidential Commission for Human Rights and Attention to Victims of the Legitimate Government, various relatives of victims related how the dictatorship operates.

Ms. Ghina Rodríguez, wife of Guillermo Sánchez, murdered in 2014 by ‘collectivos’ (pro government armed gangs) in Carabobo during a protest, assured that justice does not exist in Venezuela.

Ms. Rodríguez recalled how that day officials of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) distributed weapons to these groups to repress the demonstrations against Nicolás Maduro.

Likewise, she condemned that the author of the fatal shot was only given 5 years of imprisonment at home instead of in jail, while the officials who handed over their weapons to the groups and the antisocials who kicked her husband when he was dying on the ground, are still completely free and were never indicted.

Ghina Rodríguez’s request to the ICC is that “the victims be heard and those who are committing crimes against humanity be brought to trial.”

DISAPPEARED BY THE DGCIM

Another of the victims who is crying out for justice is Beatriz Marino, she declared that officers of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) disappeared her son, Hugo Marino, a diver specialized in investigating air accidents in 2019.

Hugo Marino was kidnapped at the Simón Bolívar international airport and, since then, nothing has been known about his whereabouts, although unofficial sources have revealed that he is at the headquarters of the Dgcim in Caracas.
