This Friday night the president informed the Venezuelans through a message broadcast by the official channels of the interim government and his social network accounts, that after completing the to and fro stage that was worked with the facilitation of Norway, the negotiation will start with the accompaniment of the international community.

“For Venezuelans this process means the possibility of achieving a solution, a comprehensive agreement to put an end to the tragedy our country is going through. And my commitment to you in the exercise of my duties and responsibilities is that no particular interest or that of any group is over the needs of an entire nation. My commitment is to achieve what we have fought for and sacrificed so much for, to insist on Unity, to put pressure to achieve our objectives and to do so with transparency.”

He said that the delegation is represented by Gerardo Blyde, who will be the head of the delegation, but it is also made up of members of the political parties that make up the Unitary Platform and members of civil society. He assured that “this delegation represents Venezuela, represents the Unity and the citizens.”

Consequences

The interim President of Venezuela, recalled that they are aware that “the counterpart is a dictatorship”, and that they are going to the process “in a situation of vulnerability”, because they face a regime about to be indicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC). However, the urgency of a solution to the crisis suffered by millions of Venezuelans is above any intention of the regime, for which he warned, there will be consequences.

“Many wonder what happens if this fails? This agreement is with Venezuela, the guarantees are for all Venezuelans, including those who support Maduro today, but we must also say responsibly that if they try to evade an agreement again, the conflict will deepen and the pressure will increase.”

He reiterated that they also know that “the dictatorship will seek some kind of recognition and gain time, it will seek to confuse, we will not allow that to happen, only a comprehensive agreement will generate guarantees, conditions, respect for the Constitution, reparation for the victims of violence and violations of human rights, real economic improvements, as is expressed in the agenda, the will of millions of Venezuelans, and the commitment of the international community ”.

President Guaidó said that the process will have a public agenda for the first time and the debate will have complex issues so that “some solutions will not be simple”, and of this we must be aware, as it is part of the process, but he asked that “the priority of the issues is focused on finding solutions for Venezuelans.”
